Whether your school bills annually, termly or monthly, the instalment amount is the number every parent actually feels. This calculator works out each split from your annual fee, so the option you publish is one you can stand behind.
The calculator
Results
Divides the annual fee evenly across the chosen number of instalments. Schools sometimes add a small fee or discount for specific options; adjust the annual figure if your structure applies either.
How to use it
- Compare options: switch between 3, 10 and 12 instalments to see how the per-payment amount changes for the same annual fee.
- Set the default: whichever option is easiest for families should be the default offered at enrolment, not the one that only appears on request.
- Publish the schedule: families plan around a fixed day and amount. A clear schedule prevents the "I didn't know it was due" conversations.
How it works
The calculator divides the annual fee by the number of instalments. Three terms matches the standard South African school calendar, ten months matches the school year for monthly plans, and twelve months spreads the cost across the full calendar year for families who prefer it.
Which split is right for your school
There is no universal answer, and the monthly vs annual decision depends on your cash flow, your families and your administration. The honest test is simple: can your office track which instalment each family is on, and remind families before each due date? If yes, offer the split that is easiest for parents. If no, fix the administration first.
